Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras (CMMAS) Portrait

Since 2006 Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras (CMMAS) has established itself as not only the main space in Latin America for the creation, reflection and learning of contemporary music and experimental audio-based practices, but is one of a handful of spaces like it in the world. It is a unique and avant-garde center for research, experimentation and development of sonic projects, which places Mexico in a privileged place for linking interested artists from around the world in Morelia. At Black Hole we present a selection of works created at CMMAS over the years, curated by founder Rodrigo Sigal. We hope that this will serve as an introductory portrait of CMMAS and open a tunnel between Black Hole and Morelia for interested folks in both regions.
